The music of the genius Armenian composer Gomidas thrilled hundreds of people in Varna.

The concert was held in the sea capital of Bulgaria on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of the most prominent figures in the Armenian music history. Besides being a collector of Armenian folklore art, Gomidas is also a researcher of the distinctive musical style of his homeland.

Once again, the concert hall of the City Art Gallery in Varna was narrow to accommodate those willing to enjoy a concert of the Armenian General Benevolent Union „Parekordzagan”. The stars of the evening were the young and extremely talented musicians from Armenia - Hasmik Harutyunyan and Eteri Hovanisyan. Hasmik is already known to the Varna public. In the spring of 2019, we had the opportunity to marvel at the vocal talent of the opera prima and make sure that she was rightly called "the nightingale of Armenia".

Ethery Hovanisian is a performer on kanun. The unique stringed instrument is one of the leading ensembles for traditional Armenian music. Ethery sensed and conveyed the concert's audience to the timelessness of Gomidas's musical harmony.

In addition, we had the pleasure to hear the performances of Varna pianist Aris Keshishyan and AGBU Chamber Orchestra Varna, conducted by Maestro Levon Manukyan.

The concert was part of the Cultural Calendar of the Armenian General Benevolent UnionParekordzagan. The events organized by the Union aim to create a fund to support young people in the field of education.
