The monument of Charles Aznavour that will be installed in Varna, was presented at the charity ball of AGBU "Parekordzagan" - Varna.
The secular event took place in the lights of aesthetics and luxury, and aroused incredible interest among those present.
The Armenian General Benevolent Union "Parekordzagan" - Varna organized a charity ball in the sea capital on the occasion of Christmas.
The ceremony was attended by the Archbishop of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church, Tatev Agopyan, Deputy Archbishop of the Diocese of Bulgaria and Romania; the Ambassador of Armenia to Bulgaria – H. E. Armen Yedigaryan; the Ambassador of Argentina to Bulgaria – H. E. Alfredo Atanasov, who has Bulgarian roots.
The ball was also honored by the Minister of Innovation and Growth Daniel Lorer, Tsoncho Ganev – Vice Chairman in the Bulgarian Parliament, as well as the mayors of Varna's Odessos, Mladost and Asparuhovo districts, Mladen Stanev - chairman of the Association of Bulgarians around the world, and other prominent public figures.
In his welcoming speech, the Archbishop of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church Tatev Agopyan wished everyone a merry Christmas and highlighted the two important secrets of Armenian life - preservation and development of culture and art, as well as proverbial diligence and cordiality.
He expressed his opinion that the idea of installing a monument to the great French singer of Armenian descent, Charles Aznavour, is a noble one.
In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the Armenian General Benevolent Union "Parekordzagan" Varna - Kevork Krikoryan, noted that we are sending a year of challenges, but we are also celebrating 30 years of Armenia's independence and 115 years since the establishment of the Armenian General Benevolent Union "Parekordzagan". He thanked Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people for the warm welcome the country has given in 1915 to the ousted Armenians from the brutal genocide. He also thanked everyone for their warm support for the creation of the monument to Aznavour in Varna. "He is an ambassador of peace who has worked for his people and his homeland until his very last breath," Mr. Krikorian said.
The chairman of the organization also thanked everyone for the support of the program implemented by AGBU and under the mentorship of the Banker Levon Hampartzoumian which supports the development of talented young people.
Opera singer Hasmik Harutyunyan, winner of the world prize "Best Performer of Classical Music for 2018", came specially from Armenia to greet all guests in Varna. Her "Ave Maria" drew attention to her beautiful voice, and her performances of popular Italian canzonettes and Armenian songs were applauded for a long time.
The participants of the Armenian dance ensemble "Gayane Marshlyan" presented their performances, which brought mood and a lot of positive emotions to the ball. The duo Arman-Onnik Shakaryan and Elza Bohosyan delighted the audience with their "jive". There was also a distant greeting from Argentina, with a wonderful tango performance.
The event also brought the special participation of the pop prima Yordanka Hristova, presented in a remarkable way by the host of the evening, the popular on the screen Drago Draganov.
The organizers of the celebration announced that during the charity auction organized at the ball, more than BGN 100,000 were raised, which will be allocated for scholarships for education of talented young people from the Armenian community in Varna and for the construction of the monument to Charles Aznavour in the city.
The project of the monument was presented to the attendees, and its architect is Krassimir Angelov. Its construction will be carried out under the patronage of the embassies of the Republic of France and Armenia in Bulgaria, along with the help of the “Charles Aznavour” Foundation, France, and the blessings of Bishop Tatev Agopyan.
